Anoka County 2023 Affordable Housing Virtual Bus Tour Report

On Thursday, October 12th, the MICAH Anoka Chapter held a virtual version of our community housing bus tour.

Over 40 people hopped on board as we drove through Anoka County. We stopped at Family Promise in Anoka County to hear plans about their new campus site.

At the county, we learned about funding for families in need of assistance.

The McKinney Vento liaison from the Anoka Hennepin schools gave an overview of the program.

Our stop at Park Plaza Cooperative showed us how a community can own their home and the land it is on. A disability advocate told of the needs of those with disabilities when housing is being planned and built.

Representative Matt Morris explained the legislation that he passed that will help promote trades in the schools. He also received our Community Hero award.

The tour ended with updates on State and Federal Legislation from MICAH Executive Director, Sue Watlov Phillips.
